Marker #6 is on Route 5 in Schuyler on the north side of the road - "General Herkimer __ near this spot on the night of August 4, 1777. With him were his 800 men and 400 ox carts, filled with supplies for the relief of Fort Stanwix."
The 14th and final marker was placed near the Oriskany monument on the Oriskany battlefield. "Near this spot stood the beech tree, which during the Battle of Oriskany on August 6, 1777, sheltered the wounded Gen. Herkimer while he gave orders that made Saratoga possible and decided the fate of a __."
Marker #10 is located on an island between lower Whitesboro St. and Railroad St. stating "General Herkimer marched past this spot on his way to Fort Stanwix, on August 5, 1777. He was brought back __ over this same road on the evening of the following day.
The first marker was placed at the home of Gen. __ Herkimer (ca.1728-1777). It reads: From this point Gen. __ Heirchhelmer, known as General Herkimer, started August 3, 1777, to take command of the men who assembled in answer to his call to fight in defense of the Mohawk Valley."

Marker #9 is at the site of Old Fort __ at Bagg's Square. "The site of Old Fort __, which though abandoned at the time, sheltered the wounded General Herkimer during the night of August 6, 1777, on his return journey after the Battle of Oriskany."
Marker #8 was at the great ford of #17 Across located at Bagg's Square near the railroad station. "1500 feet east of this spot was the great ford of the (#17 Across) protected in 1758 by the erection of Old Fort Schuyler. General Herkimer used this ford August 5, 1777 on his march to the relief of Fort __."
Marker #5 is in front of the old Herkimer County __ in Herkimer noting the location of Fort Dayton. "At Fort Dayton near this site General Nicholas Herkimer took command of the Tryon County Militia and on August 4, 1777 began the eventful march which terminated in the Battle of Oriskany."
At each marker dedication, there were speakers and descendants of Gen. Herkimer's siblings unveiling the monuments. At Monument # 5, Margaret Tuger had the schoolchildren sing __ songs and give allegiance to the flag.
Marker #13 is on a green across from the Oriskany Public Library and notes Gen. Herkimer's final camp before __. "Near this spot on the night of August 5, 1777, Gen. Herkimer at the head of his column made his final camp before the Battle of Oriskany. From this point his runners were dispatched to Fort Stanwix."
The 3rd marker was at Fort Herkimer - "Near this spot was the site of Fort Herkimer built in 1756 around the second stone house of Johan Jost Herchheimer, __ of Gen. Nicholas Herkimer. Here Nicholas passed his boyhood and here he rested when returning wounded from the Battle of Oriskany."
Marker #11 is on Whitesboro St. as you enter Yorkville in a small park. "On August 5, 1777, leading his army of men and ox carts, Gen. Herkimer toiled past this spot. The present Whitesboro street was then the only road south of the Mohawk River leading to Fort Stanwix." The road they widened to accommodate a relief column was the site of an old __ trail.
Each of the bronze tablets is set in a concrete marker with a __ showing the 40-mile route prepared by W. Pierrepont White (1867-1938) of Utica.
